Frequently Asked Questions

How many hours can I work on a Student visa? expand_more
Student visa holders can work up to 48 hours per fortnight during study periods and unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks. Work hours are counted over a fortnight (14 days), not per week. Coursework and work placements as part of your course do not count towards this limit.
What is a CoE and how do I get one? expand_more
A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) is an electronic document issued by your education provider once you have accepted your offer and paid your fees. It confirms your enrolment details and is required for your Student visa application. You will receive it directly from your institution.
What is the Genuine Student requirement? expand_more
The Genuine Student requirement assesses whether you are a genuine applicant for entry and stay as a student. You must demonstrate your genuine intention to study by providing a personal statement explaining: why you chose this course and provider, how it relates to your past education and work, and how it will benefit your future career.
